Overview

The specialisation Peace, Trauma, and Religion is a specialisation of the master programme Theology and Religion Studies. The specialisation is offered by the VU University's Faculty of Theology, and as such the programme follows the structure of said University.

There are two semesters divided into six periods. In the first semester, the student will participate in the programme's educational courses. These are: Hermeneutics, Just Peace, Sunday the Most Segregated Hour, Religion and Trauma, and Research Skills. With the exception of research skills, an academic paper is the final assignment.

In the second semester, the students are required to follow an internship associated with the subject of the specialisation and write there thesis. Students periodically come together during the Master Seminar sessions, which run through the course of the academic year.

Non-obligatory is the (intended) yearly study trip to a relevant country. In the academic year 2015-2016, students travelled to Bogóta, Colombia, for a course on reconciliation from a perspective of faith in the Colombian context. In 2016-2017, students will travel to Israel-Palestine.
